Happy Friday! I hope everyone is gearing up for a weekend of FUN for St. Patrick's day. To celebrate the holiday, we created a fun DIY green and gold glitter crown to rock during the parades... you wont see us getting pinched!

Here is what you'll need:

1. Hot glue gun and extra glue sticks (just in case)

2. Sheers

3. Wire cutters

4. 16" x 1" strip of fabric of your choice-- ours is a fun glittery gold cotton

5. Elastic.. measurement is up to you. We suggest starting with 12" (more if you have extra thick hair)

6. Needle and thread or sewing machine

7. Embellishment of choice-- we chose a Christmas garland from Michael's Supply Store

1. Start by cutting your glitter leaves into separate pieces 2. Find the center back of your fabric strip, apply glue to the top half, and place your leaf face down.

3. Continue this pattern on each end using large to small pieces to create your crown. 4. Apply glue to the bottom half of your fabric and fold over the leaf ends leaving 1/2" unglued at each end.

5. Stitch one end of elastic between the fabric folds on one end. 6. Place the crown on your head and measure the elastic to the other end of the fabric strip. Don't forget to allow 1/2" seam allowance at the end. 7. To complete, stitch the remaining elastic end to your crown.

Guys in Bowties

Everyone loves a guy in a bowtie. They're sleek. They're stylish. And they're fun to look at. They can also be styled a number of ways, whether dressy, casual, or in between. We pulled some photos of a couple different looks we have styled with our MGd bowties here...

Bridal Look of the Day

We love Jenny Packham! One of our absolute favorite gowns of hers is the Rapunzel. Since the top half of this dress is so detailed, we wanted to keep our look simple with the accessories so we styled this look with our Bittersweet headpiece. And because this dress makes such a statement, all by itself, we kept everything else simple too - with a nude lip stain by Revlon (found HERE), very affordable silver suede pumps (found HERE), and a nude nail (found HERE). Our Bittersweet headpiece can be styled a number of ways (as seen in the middle right and bottom right images) and comes in gold or silver wiring.

Reasons To Hire A Wedding Planner

We are so blessed to be able to work with so many great brides. And quite often working with these brides means also working with great wedding planners! There are obviously thousands of reasons to hire a wedding planner but we've put together a list of reasons that we think rank the highest.

THEY DE-STRESS. Sure, planning can seem pretty easy in the beginning. Booking the church, the reception, and the hotels for out-of-town guests can be done pretty easily. But what people don't often see are the nitty-gritty details that wedding planners take care of, especially during crunch time. Handling deposits and paying vendors, picking up and returning linens, lighting, or furniture, making site visits to make sure things are in order...these types of things have to be done!
THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS. Most of the time, this is going to be a first time experience. That being said, its nice to have someone know what to do, when to do it, and how to get it done quickly. Wedding Planners know the BEST caterers. They know the BEST photographers. They know the BEST venues. They do this over and over again all year long. They will never point you in the wrong direction.
THEY TAKE CARE OF DETAILS. The last thing you and your family want to be doing the day of the wedding is panicking. Do you want to be bothered with having to get to the bridal shop to pick up your dress? Does your mother want to run around the reception asking each and every vendor if they've been paid? Do your bridesmaids and groomsmen know exactly how to walk up and down the aisle? Who has the rings? Are your grandparents taken care of? What form of transportation will be available for wedding party and guests? Is someone going to announce that you and your groom are about to cut the cake or have your first dance? Are your parents around to see this? THE. LIST. GOES. ON. You want a planner on site the day of (most importantly) to make sure all of this is taken care of so that everyone involved can be completely and totally relaxed.
THEY SAVE YOU MONEY. You may not believe this but a lot of times a wedding planner can save you money. They have very close-knit relationships with vendors and stores, so when it comes time to book something,sometimes they can get a discount. And lets face it, the wedding industry gets really expensive really quickly. You definitely want to save here and there when you can.
THEY KEEP YOU SANE. There are so many things that go into planning a wedding. Way more than it actually looks like. And the further along you get in the process, the more things build up. A wedding planner's job, depending on the package you have signed up for, is to do EVERYTHING. They run around all day long getting things done for you that you don't even see. A wedding planner allows you to keep your sanity and relax while they work behind the scenes while you actually enjoy being engaged.

our bridal look of the day is a very whimsical, very bashful, very muted theme. we paired two MGd pieces (top middle - Elm headpiece + bottom middle - Lovegrass sash) with a peach vera wang gown and jeweled jimmy choo's. we finished the look off with a bold lip color from mac (taste temptation).
